Comac Medical Group Rebrands as Clarenta, Marking a New Chapter as a European Clinical Development Partner

London, UK, September 9, 2026Comac Medical Group today announced its rebrand as Clarenta, introducing a new group identity that reflects the evolution of the business and its growing capabilities across the clinical development journey.

The launch of Clarenta marks the rebranding of Comac Medical Group, bringing a new name and identity to the Group while maintaining the same European organisation, expertise, client relationships and operational infrastructure behind it.

From Comac Medical Group to Clarenta

Comac Medical Group has evolved significantly in recent years, building on the clinical research foundation established by Comac Medical in 1997 and expanding its capabilities, geographic presence and expertise. Over nearly three decades, Comac Medical grew into one of Central and Eastern Europe’s leading full-service clinical research organisations, with expertise across the clinical development journey.

Following the acquisition of Comac Medical by EdgeCap Partners in 2023, Comac Medical Group was established to support the company’s next phase of growth and development. The subsequent acquisition of ILife Consulting in 2025 added complementary early-phase and strategic consulting expertise, strengthening the Group’s ability to support clients from development strategy through clinical execution. A new international leadership team was also established, led by CEO Dr. Chris Smyth and supported by experienced industry leaders across operations, commercial strategy and governance.

Today, this evolution is reflected in Clarenta. Clarenta represents both the heritage of the organisations within the Group and its direction forward: a more integrated European partner connecting strategic development decisions with practical clinical execution.

Navigating Clinical Complexity is at the heart of the new brand and the role Clarenta aims to play for its clients. Inspired by clarity, the name reflects the kind of partner we aim to be: clear in our guidance, open in our communication and purposeful in moving clinical programmes forward. While our identity is new, it is built on nearly three decades of experience, trusted relationships and a shared commitment to clients and patients.

Integrated Expertise Across Clinical Development

Under the Clarenta identity, clients will continue to have access to the same services and expertise previously provided by Comac Medical Group. These capabilities span the clinical development journey, including development and regulatory strategy, early-phase clinical research, and full-service clinical operations.

Clarenta combines this expertise with experienced teams, established operations across Europe and an Early Phase Unit inspected by the FDA and EMA. The organisation supports programmes across a range of therapeutic areas, with particular experience in oncology and onco-haematology, rare diseases, neurology and psychiatry, respiratory diseases, dermatology and gastroenterology.

Our mission is clear: to bring clarity and confidence to clinical development, helping sponsors navigate complexity and move their programmes forward with purpose.

Leadership Commentary

“Clarenta represents the next chapter of our company and a clearer expression of who we are today and where we are going,” said Dr. Chris Smyth, CEO of Clarenta. “We are bringing together complementary expertise across consulting, early-phase development and clinical delivery under one strong European identity. Our ambition is to help clients navigate clinical complexity with experienced teams, practical thinking and a clear path from strategy to execution.”

“We invested in Comac Medical Group because we saw a strong foundation, deep clinical expertise and significant potential to build something distinctive in the European market,” said Christopher Backes, Co-Founder of EdgeCap Partners. “Clarenta is an important step in realising that ambition. We remain committed to supporting the company’s continued development through investment in its people, capabilities and strategic growth.”

About Clarenta

Clarenta, formerly Comac Medical Group, is a European clinical development partner helping biotech and pharmaceutical companies navigate complex clinical development with clarity, foresight and confidence.

We connect what too often sits apart: early development strategy, regulatory expertise and clinical execution. From the decisions that shape a programme before a protocol is final to studies conducted in our Early Phase Unit inspected by the FDA and EMA and clinical delivery across Europe, we help sponsors understand what matters, anticipate risks and make informed decisions about what comes next.

Clarenta’s approach combines senior scientific and operational expertise with practical guidance and transparent communication. The company stays close to clients and their programmes, connecting strategy with execution so they can move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
